The baby has a name. After weeks of tension, heated debate and mass hysteria, the nation can finally relax; Cheryl and Liam Payne have settled on a name for their new born. And the winner is… Bear.
The pop star couple had the baby 5 weeks ago, but hadn’t decided on what to call him, wanting to “get to know” the tot first. Gossip columns up and down the country were bustling with rumour as celeb lovers everywhere filled the couples silence with possible monikers.
Bookies had previously slashed odds on Alfie being the no. 1 choice after it was reported Cheryl was a fan of the name. Other pre-announcement front runners were Taylor, Henry, James and Grayson, but it seems like the pair had other ideas.
A friend said ‘Liam and Cheryl couldn’t decide on a name for ages and kept toing and froing between options.’
‘But they both loved Bear and settled on it a few days ago. Despite the sleepless nights, the couple are completely smitten with little Bear.’
It may or may not astound you to learn that the love-struck twosome aren’t the first celeb couple to plump for Bear as a name. Jamie and Jools Oliver have a five-year-old son called Buddy Bear while Kate Winslet and Alicia Silverstone have also named their children Bear (separately we mean, they are not, to our knowledge, together).
Still, in the crazy world of Celeb baby names, you have to say Bear is comfortably towards the lesser end. When you have infants being dubbed Pilot Inspektor (son of Jason Lee) or Audio Science (son of Shannyn Sossamon), naming your offspring after an Ursine carnivore is relatively unadventurous. The mind boggles.
