Slots Jargon Buster

Ever get confused by all the different slots terminology? Don’t fear – Super Free Slot Games is here to explain the terms that you might come across, so you can feel confident you understand everything you read on the sites.

Slots Reels
The number of lines (reels) which show the slot symbols, left to right. In most cases slot games will have 3 or 5 reels.

RNG (Random Number Generator)
RNG is the software that determines what the outcome of each spin will be. When you push the Spin button, the RNG will generate a random set of numbers, which correspond to the symbols displayed on the reels on screen.

Pushing the button a 100th of a second later would yield a totally different result, so the RNG will generate thousands of numbers between the spins of even the fastest slots player.

Max Bet
The max bet function in slot machines allows you to bet the maximum amount of coins/lines. The bet max button can usually be found next to the spin button. If you use this, you could be in with the chance of bigger returns.

Fruit Machine/Fruity
The fruit machine, or ‘fruity’ as it is sometimes called, is a UK version of a slot game with a selection of fruit symbols on the reels.

Hit Rate
Hit rate is a term used to describe how often a slot machine pays a winning combination. It can also be used to describe how often a bonus game hits.

Progressive Jackpot
When a slot game has a progressive jackpot, this means the cash prize will increase every time anyone plays the game, until the jackpot is won. When the jackpot is won, values are reset to minimums for each before they start to grow again. You’re usually required to bet the maximum amount of coins/line (Max Bet) to qualify for the progressive jackpot.

Payline
The payline – sometimes called a ‘betting line’ or a ‘winning line’ — refers to the pattern on the reels when a winning combination of symbols occurs.

Pay Table
The pay table details all the possible winning combinations. It will also include information on any bonus games and special features within the game.

Multiline
A multiline slot refers to any slot machine that has more than one line on which you can line up wins.

Bonus Round
A bonus round is any additional way to win on top of the standard reel pays, usually triggered by landing a certain combination of symbols which can be identified in the game’s pay table. Common types of bonus rounds include free spins rounds and ‘wheel of fortune’ style games.

Wild
The Wild symbol can sometimes help a player get a bonus payout because it can be substituted for other symbols to create winning combinations.

Return to Player (RTP)
A term used to describe the average percentage of the total money that is paid back to the player as a prize.
