Multi-line Slots Explained

Image of a slot gameSlot games come in all shapes and sizes, but the most common you’ll see online is the multi-payline slots. Some slot games will have as many as 25 paylines to be played every spin. Just because a slot game has 25 paylines doesn’t necessarily mean you have to play all 25 lines though, as some games have optional paylines, which allow you to select which lines you wish to play. However, the more paylines, the bigger the winnings if you get lucky, so they can be very lucrative. You also have a chance to break even on every spin, whereas with a single line slot game you can only win or lose each spin.

The number of paylines on multi-line slots is only limited by the number of reels. So the number of paylines on a 3 reel slot game is obviously less than the maximum number on a 5 reel slot. Generally speaking, slots range from 2 paylines up to 100 paylines. The most common number of paylines is 15, 20 or 25.
